A day at the zoo…

My kids were off of school, so I decided to take them to the zoo.

We all love the zoo, and I have been taking my kids to the zoo since they were very little. My Grandma used to buy us memberships. We used to go whenever we wanted. My daughter is very intelligent. She can tell me the name of the animal, it’s habitat and all these amazing facts. She is a science wiz!

I have many pictures, and videos. Hope you enjoy!

Do you have a favorite zoo animal?

I cannot pick one. The animals at the zoo amaze me in general.

I really like monkey’s and seals.

Here is a video of the giraffes at feeding time. I love their spots, their long necks. They are fascinating.

Hyena’s:

Video of the Hyena’s:

Lions, so handsome:

Seals! I love the seals! They had a seal show. I’m amazed by how they obey commands like high five, and lay down.

He’s laying down for her:

Orangutan’s. They were amazing. They were handling newspapers, clothes, and hay. They are very entertaining to watch, and funny.

The way he walks in the video is funny, they have character:

Penguins! I love the penguins!

Cute! Look at that while belly, and those eyebrows! Adorable!

Cute, they are cuddling.

Kangaroos! I love how they walk!

Baby Komoto Dragon.

A sloth! I love sloth’s. Too bad I can’t get a better picture!

Zebra. I love those stripes!

Yikes, look at those horns on the rino!

A snakes. I’m scared of snakes. I took a picture of the rattle snake so that I know what they look like, for when I go hiking.

They have a beautiful light display as well for the holidays:

Then we went to my parents house for dinner and I took pictures of her beautiful tree:

And she painted a new picture. She is quiet talented!

  1. I miss going to the zoo we use to go all the time but
since we moved to Indiana we don’t really go no where
cause when you learn how to live on a fixed income
there’s a lot of things you don’t or can’t do.

    1. They may have senior days, but we live in Colorado, and they legalized weed, and the cost of living sky rocketed. We have not been able to go in about 5 years! We just got through paying all of our debt off so we used to really have to pinch our pennies. The zoo here is free if you have food stamps, but we don’t.

      1. I’ll be glad to get all our debt paid off too
we don’t have a zoo or anything close
enough to go to around where we are.

Gas is over 3$ food went out the window
price wise & now winter is just around the
corner & god knows what that’s going to
cost, we don’t have a fire place we are all
electric but we keep it around 68 – 70

  2. Wow, you have some great photos there. Kids always have fun in the zoo. Glad to know your daughter and mum are so talented.

Thanks for sharing your memories with us. xx

  3. I’m glad that your family enjoys the zoo! I’ve visited zoos while on vacation in other countries and I always pray the animals are treated well. I can’t pick a favourite either but I’m particularly drawn to penguins.

  4. Love this post.

We visited the zoo a while back and we have a small one near us that’s great for kids. Waiting for my little one to become a bit more aware of animals and we will take her again.

Great photos and love the Christmas tree.

  5. Seems like you had a great day at the zoo. I love nature and all animals of course since they are part of it. I just cannot stand the idea that animals are kept prisoned so personally I am not a big fan of zoos.

  6. It looks like you had a really fun day out! I must admit, I am not a fan of zoos, especially in recent years as I’ve learned more about animal welfare. I haven’t visited one in years. I do absolutely love animals and especially love seeing them in the wild. My favourite is Elephants!!

  7. It sounds like you had a fun day, I’m not the biggest fan of zoos unless they’re there for conservation purposes, but I know kids love it as a day out. I wouldn’t have wanted to get too close to the snakes either.

  8. Zoos are so fun! I like the birds because we see them all the time, even in the city, but they fly away so fast before we get a close look at them. Your mother’s Christmas tree and painting are lovely!

  9. All your pictures are great, but my favorite is the lion. He looks like he is posing to be Aslan in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Your mom is talented–beautiful picture!

  10. I love the zoo although I haven’t been for a while. These are some gorgeous pictures and the lion looks wonderful! Thank you for sharing your day out and I’m glad you had such a lovely time! Em x

  11. I like visiting zoos. This looks like a great experience. You have shared some great photographs and videos. Thank you for sharing your experience.
