Health benefits of swimming:

I love swimming. It is a great way to cool off in the summer. It is super fun. I’m been an advid swimmer since I was 6, and took swimming lessons. I have back pain from my job but the water takes the weight off your joints so it is great exercise for someone with arthritis.

Some health benefits of swimming are:

  • It’s a full body work out
  • Takes pressure off your joints. Supports 90% of your body weight.
  • Improves your heart health
  • Makes you stronger and tones muscles
  • Burns calories
  • Gives you energy
  • You don’t break a sweat!
  • Strengthens your lungs!
  • Good option for asthmatics, people with M.S. or that are disabled.
  • Helps you sleep
  • Refreshing on a hot day!
  • Getting Vitamin D from the sun! Use sun block if you need

    I have joint pain and nerve damage and I imagine swimming would be a wonderful way to boost overall wellbeing, perhaps even help my lungs (lung disease and damage). I’ve not been in a pool for many, many years, and I don’t think I’d be able to manage much at all these days but it would be lovely to let the water just take the pressure off your body.

      I hope you’re feeling well. My Dad has neuropathy in his foot. I have asthma, it does strengthen your lungs! Even a little water aerobics can help.

    You are preaching to the choir! 🙂 I am a swimmer and have been my whole life. I taught Water Aerobics for almost 20 years, I am a swim coach and I am an avid scuba/resuce diver. I know ALL about the healing properties of water. 🙂
