Scam Calls!

I work in assisted living and I take care of the elderly. There are many scammers out to get the older population. I started giving the scammers call back prank calls. Scamming my residents infuriates me! They wake up my residents after I put them to bed, and bother them when they are napping.

This also bothers me because they scam people out of a lot of money.

There are many types of scams:

IRS scams, I’ve gotten these calls, where they say they are from the IRS and that the IRS is going to “come to my house and arrest me”.

  • There are scams about winning the lottery, student loan scams, Child tax credit, energy bill, phone bill, debt collection, Amazon delivery and I can go on forever. I also have people call my elderly saying that they are the persons “Grandson”, and that they are in “jail” and need to be “bailed out”. Luckily my residents do not fall for this.
  • Also they send emails pretending to be your bank as well as PayPal, never respond. Always go to the direct PayPal site, and contact your financial institutions on your own.
  • You can report scams to the government online: https://www.usa.gov/stop-scams-frauds#item-35157
  • You can put your phone number on the National do not call list: https://www.donotcall.gov/

I recorded these scam call backs online: Note the government says hang up, but they infuriate me so I call them back.

  1. I concur with how infuriating these robocalls and scam conartists are, and they have nothing to do but to make people’s lives miserable with their deceitfulness. If only we had magical powers to zap them right where they’re sitting or standing. UGH!!! 😡

  2. These people are just despicable, preying on vulnerable people. They called Husband’s sister claiming they were from Microsoft and that they needed access to her laptop. Thank goodness she has the sense to hang up, and call Husband to ask if this was true.

    1. Yes!!! It boils my blood that they call the assisted living, and try to scam 90 year old’s and wake them up after I put them to bed. So I give them a call back. Luckily the residents cannot hear. They do have dementia as well. None of them fall for it thank God.
